The team includes the newest addition, Josephine "Jo" Danville, an experienced investigator from Washington, D.C., whose work is driven by her empathy for the victim. Messer was personally selected to join the team by Mac, and he attempts daily to live up to that honor and responsibility. Sheldon Hawkes is the crime lab’s former coroner, a brilliant Ph.D. who transitioned to the field team. Joining them is Don Flack, an edgy, hardcore homicide detective with a quick wit, impressive forensic insight and a long family history in law enforcement; and Lindsay Monroe Messer, a young, athletic CSI with a Midwestern work ethic who is willing to roll up her sleeves to tackle any job, and rarely hints at the dark and devastating secret that originally motivated her to dedicate her life to being an investigator. Lindsay and Danny are married, and have a daughter, Lucy. Rounding out the team is lab rat Adam Ross and eccentric coroner Dr. Sid Hammerback. The New York CSIs may have a different process from those in Las Vegas or Miami, but they are guided by the same steadfast determination. These skilled investigators follow the evidence as they piece together clues and eliminate doubt, to ultimately crack their cases.
Season Info:When an awkward teen is found dead, the team discovers that his efforts to win a sexy punk rock chick's heart may have gone a step too far. The eighth season of CSI: NY premiered on CBS on September 23, 2011. It is scheduled to consist of 18 episodes. A spin-off from CSI: Miami, the third edition to the CSI franchise follows a New York City forensics team/police officers headed by tough former Marine Major, Det. Mac Taylor, and his newest partner, Det. Jo Danville, an experienced investigator from Washington, D.C., whose work is driven by her empathy for the victim. Against a backdrop of simmering ethnic and cultural tensions, Taylor probes cases similar to their Las Vegas and Miami counterparts, along with his team of detectives, consisting of Det. Danny Messer, Det. Lindsay Monroe, and Dr. Sheldon Hawkes. The CSIs work alongside Medical Examiner Sid Hammerback, lab technician Adam Ross, and hardcore homicide Det. Don Flack. Former team members include the late Det. Aiden Burn; Mac's former second-in-command, Det. Stella Bonasera; and the late homicide Det. Jessica Angell, who was Flack's girlfriend. CSI Detective First Grade: Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise) is the Head of the NYC Crime Lab and the leader of the CSI team. He was born in Chicago and considered working for the Chicago Police Department before he moved to New York City. The death of his wife, Claire Conrad Taylor, in the 9/11 attacks troubles him to this day, causing chronic insomnia. It was also noted in the first season that he kept a beach ball in his closet that once belonged to his wife; he stated he was unable to throw it away because it contained her breath. He served as a major in the United States Marine Corps with experience in the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing and Operation Desert Storm, once saying that he had wanted to serve the country more than anything else in the world. He later enjoys a relationship with Medical Examiner Peyton Driscoll, though she makes the painful decision to return to England, the country of her birth, after a year. Since then, Mac has dated casually, but remains married to his work.
The team investigates if the efforts of a teen to get close to a rock star brought about his death.
